The Giro d’Italia will start from Liguria with a first stage time trial on the bike path between San Lorenzo al Mare and San Remo.  It will stay for about a quarter of its duration in Liguria.
In fact from May 9 to 13 the four stages will be held entirely in Liguria and the fifth state will start again from La Spezia to Abetone in Tuscany.  The presentations of the Tour will always be in Liguria.  
The tour will travel about 500 kilometers of Liguria touching 77 municipalities (approximately one third of the total number).  It will pass through beautiful places such as Cinque Terre, the Val di Vara, and in villages clinging to the mountains such as Rondanina, the smallest town.  This will be an unprecedented opportunity to explore different regions beyond the traditional tourist destinations that are universally known.  On Monday, May 4 the first teams will arrive to get a feel for the path of the time trial stage.
